About Matroid

Matroid makes computer vision simple. We’ve built an easy-to-use and intuitive studio for creating and deploying detectors (computer vision models) to search visual media for people, objects, and events with no programming required.

With the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, more and more expert knowledge is required to use cutting-edge AI techniques to solve real-world problems. At Matroid, we’re building an intuitive product that allows anyone to train and deploy computer vision models without needing to know how to write a line of code. Founded by a Stanford Professor in 2016, Matroid has raised $33.5 million in funding, and the product has been successfully used in a range of manufacturing, security, and industrial IoT applications.

As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, you must have a minimum of 3 years of technology startup experience. You will be responsible for the entire sales and marketing teams, continuously building out the team and leading those within the company. As the VP of Sales and Marketing, you will oversee and maintain all current customer accounts while also researching and targeting new customers. Reports on marketing trends, sales targets and more will be required on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. This role combines sales, marketing and corporate planning. While working collaboratively with the teams, you will be the leader and the face of sales and marketing. You will report directly to the CEO and work out of our new downtown Palo Alto office.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for aggressively growing the business side of the company, leading and managing the sales team with day-to-day activity
  • Build out the sales team and train and mentor those already within the company
  • Develop cutting-edge and effective sales strategies for the whole team
  • Manage and dictate target customers, creating a robust sales pipeline
  • Lead the marketing team, developing innovative and effective messaging and using cutting-edge marketing tools to gain new customers and maintain existing ones
  • Serve as an industry expert concerning market trends
  • Negotiate and maintain business relationships and customer contracts
  • Develop monthly, annual and 3-year revenue forecasts and sales reports
  • Maintain a record of all competitors and their products, incentives and promotions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you bring to the table

  • At least 3 years of technology startup experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in business with a background in marketing
  • Experience in selling and marketing SaaS
  • Demonstrated track record of strong leadership and critical thinking, communication and teamwork
  • A strong track record of sales strategy development, with an emphasis on planning, budgeting and improving gross margin
  • Experience in competitive insights, advertising, research and creating strong marketing plans
  • The experience and ability to manage multiple projects with a strong analytical and organized approach
  • The ability to negotiate with clients and maintain good relations with current customers
  • Experience leading multiple disciplined teams and being a team player
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that are polished, respectful, and genuine
  • A self-starter who is action-oriented and goal-driven
