Matroid's computer vision platform empowers our customers to deploy cutting-edge AI to detect defects, anomalies, objects and events of interests in their video and images, on the cloud or on-premise, with the click of a button.

Founded in 2016 by a Stanford professor, Matroid has a broad and rapidly growing set of customers in manufacturing, industrial IoT, government and security.

We are looking for a Computer Vision Intern who is excited about working with the latest deep learning research to evaluate, improve and productionize new techniques. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, surrounded by experts who are passionate about their work.

This position is onsite at our new downtown Palo Alto office, located near the Stanford campus and Caltrain.

What you’ll be doing

  • Conduct literature reviews and survey a specific research domain, such as object tracking, panoptic segmentation, anomaly detection, or edge deployment.
  • Perform experiments to figure out how best to adapt existing research to specific use-cases.
  • Build prototypes to demonstrate the effectiveness of your approach.
  • Work with your mentor to integrate your work into production.

How you’ll be doing it

  • You will work on a standalone project with autonomy yet under the guidance and mentorship of a senior member of the Deep Learning team.
  • You will be a member of a collaborative and friendly team of software and computer vision experts
  • You will learn a lot along the way, diving into new technologies and the world of computer vision both on your own and during frequent company tech talks.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or another technical field.
  • Significant experience with Deep Learning and Computer Vision.
  • Significant experience building large, complex software projects.
  • Excitement and passion for both the research and the engineering side of DL/CV

Bonus points if…

  • Masters in Computer Science (AI/ML specialization), Statistics, Mathematics (Probability), or equivalent.
  • Significant industry experience in any of the above
  • Relevant open-source projects or published work
